Carbide buttons in drill heads are disintegrated in 12 to 15 minutes. With the broken bits removed, new bits are installed and re-manufactured heads are put back into service. Some heads can not be repaired, so good bits are removed by disintegrating the material around the bit so they can be taken out and re-installed in a good head.
